i’m rebooting at shiegra/quothshiegra for no particular good reason at this point tbh but i planned to do it for a while (i was all ‘i’ll reorganize and have a tag system that makes sense from the top and not be so paralyzed at the prospect of cleaning out all my dead dragon knight blog follows!’ and then i realized that i would still be taking the worst part of my blog, me, with me and lost energy, but i’d already done a bunch of setup so…) so feel free to come on over if you’re not sick of me yet

I accidentally deleted my topmost post saying so, so just to let people know—this is an abandoned main blog, I now use the sideblog shiegra so that I can go private if seized by self consciousness! Eventually this one will be emptied. Tumblr just still makes you do asks and such via the main blog so it causes a lil confusion
I know a lot of people want to buy poetry books but feel they can’t justify the expense so here are some free or inexpensive poetry books that I’ve read that are legally available from publishers or from the poet.
Some new ones that are roughly arranged from free to $6. There are a few with different currencies so those are just a shot in the dark. I’ve not read two but will in the near future but the rest I’ve read and enjoyed.
I’m working my way through these, generally authors I’ve read/heard of before or found on goodreads authors/friends read/to-read lists. Ratings are on my goodreads.
Unsurprisingly as soon as Riri Williams was announced to take over as Iron Man from Tony Stark, there were people on the internet looking at it as proof of Marvel’s agenda to replace all white characters with POC.
This is one of my favorite pieces from the late/great Dwayne McDuffie regarding fan reaction who perceived a “black agenda” when he was writing Justice League. Much of McDuffie’s writing/work really relevant today.
“But there is a hardcore piece of the audience whose back goes up whenever you go into these issues, and they don’t even realize it. And what kills me about it is that when they’re writing about it, they’re always hyperrational. You know, Look the fact is, there are more white characters, and if you picked randomly, you would end up with all white teams. And the fact that there were three black people on this team is statistically ridiculous. It’s obviously a quota. And the quota arguments on fictional teams crack me up. Because who’s actually I’m sorry, is somebody losing a job here? Which fictional character is losing a job? There’s no connection. They’re not talking about what’s going on in the comics. They’re talking about what they think is going on in their lives (and that’s not really going on either.)”
I would say personal style is really about what makes you feel confident and beautiful, so if that’s something that’s trend-driven or if that’s something that’s classic — it really doesn’t matter.
Drachm of Syracuse, the head of Persephone on the obverse, and a chariot drawn by Nike on the reverse. The coin dates to the Hellenistic period, and more specifically to 287-278 BCE. Currently, the coin is located in the MFA Boston.
It happened about 8:45 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Nancy Street and Washington Street East in Charleston.
James Harvey Means , who is 15, accidentally bumped into
William Pulliam while walking in the street. The interaction ended with James getting shot twice. James was taken to CAMC General where he was pronounced dead. And his killer ate dinner after that and went to his friend’s house…Then he was arrested and told the officers :
“The way I look at it, that’s another piece of trash off the street.”
KIDS are dying because of racism. This HAS to be stopped. I just can’t take it anymore.
Me, imagining a scene in my head:
beautiful poetic prose that gracefully and artfully describes the scene in vivid detail, giving the reader concise imagery and beautiful wordplay to ruminate on.
Me, actually writing:
The angry man throwed his chair through the window angrily and bigly. "I'm angry and pissed off." He said because he was mad.
